How to Buy Memecoins on BNB Chain

BNB Chain gets far less English-language coverage than Solana and has one of the most active memecoin scenes going. A lot of that is because a large share of the activity happens in Chinese-language communities, which most Western crypto media simply doesn't follow.

Practically, it's cheap, fast, and fully EVM-compatible. Here's the setup.

Step 1 — Wallet

Any EVM wallet works: MetaMask, Rabby, Trust Wallet, or Binance's own Web3 wallet. If you've used Ethereum or Base, it's identical.

Download from the official site or app store listing, never a search ad. Write your seed phrase on paper. And run a separate wallet for trading from anything you'd hate to lose — the full reasoning is in the wallet setup guide.

Step 2 — Fund with BNB

BNB is the gas token and what most pairs trade against. Buy on an exchange and withdraw to your address.

Select the right network on withdrawal. BNB exists on multiple chains and picking the wrong one sends your funds somewhere you can't reach them. This is the single most common expensive mistake on BSC, and it's entirely avoidable.

Send a small test amount first. Check the address after pasting, not just before copying.

Gas is a few cents per transaction, so you don't need much of a buffer — but keep some, because being unable to sell for want of gas is a genuinely annoying way to lose money.

Step 3 — Find and verify the token

four.meme is the dominant launchpad on BNB Chain, functionally similar to pump.fun on Solana — bonding curve launches that graduate to a DEX once the curve completes. If you're not familiar with the mechanism, it's covered in what is a bonding curve.

For screening, DexScreener and GeckoTerminal both cover BSC well. Filter by age, liquidity and holder count as you would anywhere.

Verify the contract address against the official source and cross-check it. Copycat tokens are, if anything, more common here than on Solana, partly because deployment is cheap and partly because tokens that run on Solana get cloned onto BSC within hours.

Step 4 — Check before you buy

Same checks as anywhere, with one that matters more on BSC.

Token taxes. BEP-20 contracts frequently include buy and sell taxes written into the token, and they're more common here than on Solana. Some are reasonable, some are extraction, and some can be raised after launch — which is how honeypots work. Check the current rate and whether it can be changed.

Step 5 — Buy

PancakeSwap is the main DEX. Paste the contract, set your amount and slippage, confirm.

On slippage: BSC tokens with built-in taxes need enough tolerance to cover the tax or the transaction fails, which catches people out constantly. If a buy keeps reverting, the tax is usually why rather than the market moving. More on the setting in what is slippage.

What's different from Solana

Taxes are common. The biggest practical difference. Factor them into both your slippage and your expected return.

Different community. A lot of BSC memecoin activity runs through Chinese-language groups, so English CT often finds out about a runner well after it's moved. That's a disadvantage if you're only watching Western sources and an edge if you aren't.

EVM tooling. Everything you know from Ethereum applies — same wallets, same approval model, same drain risks, and the same need to revoke old approvals periodically.

Cheaper than Ethereum, more expensive than Solana. Comfortably in the range where small positions are viable.
